L&M Radiator Featured in International Mining: The Mining Might of Mesabi®

International Mining (IM) praised L&M Radiator, the creator of the renowned Mesabi® radiator, for its market leadership and inimitability.

L&M Radiator was recently featured in International Mining (IM), a publication based in Hertfordshire, England, for its leadership in the mining industry.

In the article, titled The Mining Might of Mesabi, IM Editorial Director Paul Moore spoke to L&M Radiator Pty Ltd (L&M’s Australia branch) Sales Manager Tony Coppins and General Manager Richard Chappell about what makes the Mesabi® radiator so special.

They discussed the Mesabi’s long lifetime, the key ability to repair a Mesabi radiator in the field, L&M Radiator’s position in Wabtec Corp.’s global network, and L&M Radiator’s solutions for the low-emission generation.

“At L&M Radiator, we are working with many of the major mining houses and new mining truck technology players on how we can help them on this journey,” said Chappell in the article. “The first stage of that is working with hybrid diesel-battery trucks and eventually we will likely see full battery trucks.”

“We have the capacity to meet the future needs of next-generation decarbonized mining truck cooling systems,” continued Chappell. “We are working with all the major players to make sure that they have the cooling requirement answers that they need for these new lower-emission or net-zero mining truck designs.”

The article highlighted how many lower-emission efforts are coming in the form of upgrading existing equipment to be more fuel efficient. This is more sustainable and cost-efficient than purchasing a whole new fleet.

“With the new lower emissions trucks, there are opportunities for us to use the existing radiator design but with modifications and reconfigurations,” said Coppins.
